The SBA is proud to present two special video series celebrating the rich diversity and history of Afrikaans. 

Onse Afrikaans, hosted by Sandra Prinsloo, takes viewers on a journey of discovery through the unique varieties and dialects of the language.

In Ons onthou we hear the voices of communities across South Africa – from Op-die-berg to Kalkbaai – where their stories and history have been carefully captured.

The SBA’s Onse Afrikaans is a series of video recordings by Sandra Prinsloo that explores the unique nature, character and origins of Afrikaans’ diverse varieties and dialects in different episodes.

Each episode is also in Sign Language and supplemented with English subtitles.

In the video recordings of Ons onthou, the SBA visits different communities in South Africa to hear the story behind the story. We talk to people from all corners of our country about their history. Unique regions and communities such as Op-die-berg, Melkhoutfontein, Verlorenvlei, Kalkbaai, as well as the stories of hearing and visually impaired people are captured on video in recognition of the origins of Afrikaans senior citizens.

Sign language interpretation and English subtitles are also provided.
