Fatima

The story, by Klavs Skovsholm, is about the adventures of young Fatima, a Muslim girl who grows up in the tradition-rich Above the Cape (Bo-Kaap). Her experience of the tradition called “rampies-sny” forms the pivot of the story.

Not only is this book a reminder of the heritage of Afrikaans as part of Muslim culture, but also a celebration of how this influence still lives on in the language and is now passed on to the younger generations.
