The SBA boasts its second four-language idiom book.

We all walk on the same earth, an idiom book that deals with the earth, contains 20 idioms that are summarized in Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa and Setswana in one book. In addition to the translations of the idioms, there is also a detailed explanation for each of the idioms.

The book is the second idiom book compiled and published by the SBA. The previous book, We All Drink from the Same Stream, contains idioms that deal with water.
The idiom book, We all walk on the same earth, has already been sent to 241 schools across the Eastern, Western and Northern Cape at no cost to the schools. To further ensure that the book reaches a wider audience, it is available for free download on the SBA’s website.

The idiom book, ideally put together for the classroom, also contains a fun activity. In the activity, learners must make a visual depiction of one of the idioms in the book and take a photograph of the depiction.

The SBA took the activity a step further and turned the activity into a photo competition. Learners also now have a chance to win a brand new phone and a cash gift voucher of R10 000 for their school.
The next idiom book will be released later this year. The book will be about fire.

Visit the SBA’s website for more details on the competition and the SBA publications.
