Drama instruction for students who do net get exposure to dramatic arts as a means of preparing them for participation in the kykNET National Acting Competition.
High school and primary school learners get an opportunity to attend theatre productions for an introduction to the performing arts, and also receive literacy and learning support. The focus on disability forms an integral part, with the provision of sign language interpreters and wheelchair access.
A festival of Afrikaans choral singing supplemented by indigenous South African languages often centred around a specific theme – such as youth and women in previous years while in 2021 the emphasis will be on mother tongue language. Participating choirs represent diverse origins, sounds, areas, singing genres and backgrounds. In 2019 it focused on Movember, with male voices only, aimed at raising awareness about prostate and testicular cancer.
Since 2019 a bursary is awarded to a learner participating in the kykNET National Acting Competition.
SA puppet theatre production centred around the theme of food security and the importance thereof, presented in conjunction with the Western Cape Department of Agriculture. Storybooks are also handed out to learners.
